Average life of terrorist in Kashmir reduced to 6 months

Increased number of counter-terrorism operation and specific intelligence input on the movement of terrorist in the terrorism-torn state of Jammu and Kashmir has brought down the life of average Kashmiri terrorist to six month, according to the security forces.

 

The average active life of terrorist used to be 9 months which has now been reduced to 6 months presently. The active life of terrorist is considered the time duration between his joining terrorism and his death or capture.

 

The security forces are getting accurate information about the movement of the terrorists and their leaders making the counter-terrorism operation quite successful. Even the recent report on the terrorist killing in 2018 of Ministry of Home Affairs mentioned that this was the most successful year of counter-terrorism operation in the Kashmir valley.

 

The successful operation has led to elimination of the largest number of terrorists in the last eight years and with six terrorists killed in an operation on December 21 taken the total this year to 262. Of the 262 killed this year, 247 have been killed in the hinterland whereas 15 were eliminated while trying to infiltrate into the country along the Line of Control (LoC).

 

The security forces have lost its 61 soldiers and officers in incidents of cross-border firing, sniping and BAT actions on the LoC in 2018. A total of 1,563 ceasefire violations took place along the LoC this year. These include incidents of firing from small arms, snipers and mortar and grenade attacks.
