(WEB INDIA) Conference on J&K at CUHP commences

A New Discourse has begun in the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) here in

connection with the beginning of a three-day conference on Jammu and Kashmir.

Jawahar Lal Kaul, All India President of Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre who was Chief

Guest on the occasion inaugurated the conference on Friday. In his key-note address, Kaul spoke

in detail about thedemographical aspect of Jammu and Kashmir and relevance of Article 370 in

the present scenario. While addressing, he spoke in detail about the role of present governments

at the Union and State level. He categorically said it is the sole responsibility of the government

to keep the human rights of the minorities intact. Kaul talked about the contribution of Maharaja

Hari Singh to keep the state of Jammu and Kashmir undivided in those challenging times when

the Pakistan Army started the aggression in 1948. He put light on the philosophy of Abhinav

Guptas Kashmiri Shavism in detail and stressed on the need of 'Nagarjunas shunyatavad.

Director of Jammu Kashmir Study Centre Ashutosh Bhatnagar who was Guest of Honour on the

occasion put light on the importance of their institute and highlighted problems of the

Kashimiris. Prof Kuldip Chand Agnihotri Vice-Chancellor of CUHP inaugurated the first session

of the day and stressed on the need of doing more and deep research on the issue of Jammu and

Kashmir. He said that the state is facing the brunt of terrorism and lack of basic facilities. It is

imperative to built proper infrastructure in the state so that the citizens can reap the harvest of

holistic development. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Rabindranath Manukonda HoD

Journalism and Creative Writing Department. Organising Secretary Prof. Arvind Aggarwal and

Joint Secretary of the conference Dr Suman Sharma were also present. In this conference 200

researchers from different parts of the country were presenting their papers.

This conference is organised in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Study Centre, New

Delhi. In the first technical session on Friday delegates presented papers on the issue of Legal

and constitutional history of Jammu Kashmir. Today, the researchers will present papers on

Shaiv Darshan of Abhinav Gupta, Gujjar history and culture of Jammu Kashmir, Maharaja Hari

Singh and on the concluding day different experts will participate in the panel discussion on the
